
Walter T. McCoy
Walter T. McCoy, Founding Head of School for St. Elizabeth’s School, has over 30 years experience as a teacher and school administrator.
He began his teaching career with Orleans Parish Public Schools and then moved on to teach at his alma mater, Jesuit High School in New Orleans, where he taught US History, American Government, World Cultures and Latin American History.
He served three years as a trustee for Christ Episcopal School in Covington, Louisiana before he and his wife, Carolyn, moved to Oklahoma City where Walter chaired the History Department at the Casady School for eight years. Casady is a large Episcopal day school of 950 students with grades primary through 12.
Most recently, Walter served as Head of School for St. Francis Episcopal Day School in Potomac, Maryland, a parish elementary school of 250 students with grades preschool – five.
Walter holds three college degrees from the University of New Orleans, with BA’s in History and Secondary School Education and a Master of Arts in History Teaching. He has been the recipient of numerous prestigious state and national grants and academic recognitions.
Walter and Carolyn are parishioners at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, and he began his employment as Founding Head of School for St. Elizabeth’s School in July of 2005. |
