Appropriately, St. Elizabeth’s mission drives the school curriculum. To provide opportunities to Denver’s urban children, the school’s curriculum addresses the needs of the whole child: academically, socially, spiritually and artistically.
St. Elizabeth’s is committed to rigorous academic development that allows students to grow intellectually at or above their chronological grade levels. As an independent school, St. Elizabeth’s maintains high expectations while nurturing individual progress.
The Episcopal tradition that welcomes children of diverse faiths, races and cultures lays the foundation for all children to learn to live, work, study, worship, play and celebrate together. We believe the demonstration of this respect within our relatively small community will spread socially valuable qualities throughout the larger global community in which we live. Intentional pluralism is a hallmark of most Episcopal schools, and being a person for others is a primary characteristic of Jesuit educational practice.
A distinguishing characteristic of St. Elizabeth’s School is to integrate religious and spiritual formation into its overall curriculum, and to do so with grace and sensitivity to all religious faiths.
St. Elizabeth’s Singers and instruction in music and the visual arts are visible reflections of the school’s emphasis on artistic expression and the positive correlation between developing art skills and intellectual growth.
St. Elizabeth’s School recognizes the uniqueness and God-given qualities of the whole child and incorporates that belief into its curriculum.
The school day will start early in the morning and end late in the afternoon. The teachers, students and parents are committed to a challenging core elementary school curriculum for two-thirds of each day and will spend the afternoons engaged in a variety of academic and enrichment activities.
St. Elizabeth’s will also hold a summer camp at a Rocky Mountain campsite. Student’s parents and community volunteers will be active participants in school life. Students will be held to a high standard of academic achievement, attendance, and conduct. Parents and guardians will be expected to support and reinforce school policies at home.
